Associate Data Scientist - vacancy
This role, based in Liverpool, is well-suited to individuals with strong communication skills who enjoy using mathematics and statistics to problem-solve and answer real world questions relating to the economic impact of decisions in healthcare. This traineeship is ideal for master’s graduates with a degree in health data science, mathematics or statistics discipline seeking to gain an insight into life at a fast-growing consultancy serving pharmaceutical industry clients. You will get the opportunity to join a growing Health Economics Team and gain hands-on experience in designing, developing and communicating health economic research projects.
Upon completion of the traineeship, there is the opportunity for strong candidates to apply for a Data Scientist position and join our expanding team on a permanent basis. Our Associate Data Scientist traineeship is for a duration of 6 months.
The Associate Data Scientist will contribute to:
- Statistical methods development and optimisation.
- Performance of appropriate statistical analysis for clinical trial data sets.
- The use of statistical methods for evidence synthesis, including pairwise meta-analysis and network meta-analysis.
- The performance of population adjusted indirect comparisons and appropriate statistical analyses for observational data.
- Performance of appropriate survival analysis to inform health economic analysis for HTA.
- Development of statistical analysis plans and statistical reports.
- Interpretation and analysis of model results, producing technically accurate written reports of methodologies and outcomes.
- Research and critical appraisal of medical and economic literature.
- Development of proposals for new projects.
What Background Should You Have?
Essential
- A master’s degree level. Relevant disciplines are those that demonstrate a high level of technical and mathematical ability, such as statistics, epidemiology, and econometrics.
- Advanced skills in Excel and VBA.
- Proficiency in the R programming language (or STATA), and the willingness and ability to rapidly develop your programming skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts and techniques to non-experts.
- The ability to use your initiative and work independently, in addition to working collaboratively within project teams.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to respond to changing deadlines
Desirable
- PhD in health economics or alternative quantitative subject (econometrics, statistics, mathematics, operational research).
- Experience with statistical analysis and/or health economics models in R.
